Background

Scandinavian Tobacco Group Lummen N.V., named thus on the 1st July 2010, is built on a plot of land which previously housed a large furniture company. The brands produced at STG Lummen are mainly coming from three previous locations, i.e. Henri Wintermans Cigars Belgium in Geel (previously called Velasques Sigarenfabrieken N.V.), Leuven (previously Tabacofina-VanderElst) in Belgium  and Nobel Cigars Production, Holme in Denmark.

The new factory in Lummen is Europe’s largest cigar factory, using the most modern cigar technology with potential to expand its facilities and capacity.

In 1996 both Velasques Sigarenfabrieken B.V. and Henri Wintermans Cigars were acquired by Scandinavian Tobacco Group. In 2007 Scandinavian Tobacco Group acquired Tabacofina-VanderElst from BAT.
