Background
STG Nykøbing was established in 1835 as E. Nobel, at the time a manufacturer of snuff. Initially located in Nykøbing, Denmark, the company moved production to Copenhagen in 1854, but in 1962 it returned to Nykøbing, where it has remained ever since.
In 1988 the company signed a cooperation agreement with Scandinavian Tobacco Group (then Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni), and in January 1991 STG acquired full control of the company, first named Nobel Cigars and since 2009 Scandinavian Tobacco Group Nykøbing.
