Job description?
“I work as General Manager for Scandinavian Tobacco Group Dominicana, in Moca, the Dominican Republic. I took up the post in September 2007, having previously performed Finance Management for the factory since 1990. I have been 19 years of service with the company.”
Your tasks?
“Quite a few! I manage and coordinate all production activities for our factory, I work on the strategy of the company and the implementation of it as well as organizational tasks. I supervise the production plan, quality control, our EHS program (Environment, Health and Security) and coordinate, supervise and set up financial and administrative activities – including budget goals, accounting procedures, forecasting and related tasks. It’s also my task to create awareness of the STG values.”

What does a typical day comprise?
“I supervise all the daily activities at the factory and in the administration. I host a lot of meetings and advise colleagues, so we can meet successfully the challenges we meet every day.”

“I consider STG as a place of opportunity. In my own case, I have had the motivation from the group to spread my professional knowledge, and to get two professional Master degrees.”
What is best about your work?
“The best thing about working in STG is the fact that we have a number of companies across the world. It’s all the opportunities and working together with very talented and professional people, and it’s the good atmosphere and relationship between us all.”
What characterises the staff in STG?
“They are motivational and they meet challenges in creative ways. Also I experience good human understanding and fruitful relationships.”
What is the most challenging aspect of your work?
“The most challenging thing is to maintain the high level of product quality and live up to internal EHS standards.”
What motivates you the most?
“Teamwork! The good relations with workers and other colleagues, and keeping the Management Board confident in our factory.”
What is vital for your success?
“That our team works and that it is talented. That our employees cooperate with each other and that our working environment is at its best.”
Can you give some examples of how STG's values are apparent in your work?
“Every day our employees ask for status on their wrapper leaf utilization and quality control score. They keep track of their performance and set goals. We are a very creative factory. We make the best use of what we already have before deciding on a specific investment. Our success as a factory definitely depends on our teamwork. Good communication and the sharing of information is the key point.”

“Prepare yourself well, and in a professional way. Be creative, communicative and expect high standards when it comes to teamwork.”
What are your hopes for STG in the future?
“That we as a group keep on growing our business and keep a well functioning organization.”
