Your tasks?
”Product and brand development, development of communication platform, development of strategic platform, portfolio mix, strategic analyses including gap analyses, market analyses and category analyses.”
Why have you chosen to work for STG?
”I think it is exciting to work with tobacco, since the category in itself is very challenging. There are so many stakeholders to take into account, and we are subject to very strict legislation, which makes the work interesting. And it's great to work in an international company headquartered in Denmark. You are close to the decisions at the same time as you get out and see the world.”
What does a typical day comprise?
”My work consists largely of project management, which means that it is rare that two days are alike. I also travel a good deal, so my surroundings vary.”
What qualifications do you have that are necessary to do the job?
”I graduated from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) with an MSc in Economics & Business Administration, majoring in International Marketing and Management (IMM). In addition I worked for two years as a sales and marketing trainee at House of Prince and for two years as a Brand Manager for Prince in Sweden.”
What career opportunities do you have in STG?
”Since STG is an international company, there is opportunity to get an overseas posting and take on new challenges in other countries.”
What is best about your work?
”Definitely the variety in my work. I love starting up new projects.”
What characterises the staff in STG?
”They are ambitious and pleasant people.”
What is the worst or perhaps the most challenging aspect of your work?
”It can at times be problematic that the cigar department is split between Denmark and the Netherlands.”
What motivates you the most?
”New and exciting challenges.”
What is vital for your success?
”That I can feel that I make a difference, and I can see that I create results.”
Can you give some examples of how STG's values are apparent in your work?
”Despite the high ambitions, I think there is a really good culture in STG head office. Although we are all busy, there is always time to help each other, and we also know how to have fun.”
What is your best advice to those seeking jobs in STG?
”You should like working with a product which is controversial and which many people has strong attitudes about – both positive and negative.”
