Corporate responsibility

Scandinavian Tobacco Group fully accepts and supports that tobacco and smoking are regulated areas, and we agree that our business must be subject to more restrictive regulation than most other businesses.

We always do our best to ensure that we comply with the rules that apply to our products and our business.

The strong public focus on tobacco and the critical view on the tobacco business call for responsibility on our side. We consider responsible and correct behaviour fundamentals of STG.

We strive to be a responsible and good corporate citizen engaged in society.

Our view on smoking
The most important and basic policy of Scandinavian Tobacco Group is “STG’s View on Smoking”. We believe that smoking can be harmful to your health and that children and young people should not smoke.

Marketing Principles
STG has a set of fundamental Marketing Principles which govern the way our products are marketed. In line with “STG’s View on Smoking” we wish to prevent that our products are marketed towards children and young people anywhere in the world.

Another basic element in the STG Marketing Principles is that everybody should know about the health risks of smoking.

Obviously, the STG Marketing Principles are only supplementary to those laws and regulations that apply in the markets where our products are sold. In most countries tobacco advertising and promotion is restricted or prohibited.

Sustainability in Tobacco Production
Social responsibility in tobacco growing has priority to us and our suppliers. Scandinavian Tobacco Group is in dialogue with its tobacco suppliers with the aim to improve the development in those third world countries where the tobacco is grown.

We work with our suppliers to support sustainability in tobacco growing, improve the standards in the work environment, safety for the workers and the treatment of the surrounding environment.

We also focus on social issues such as the elimination of child labour and discrimination. For economical, cultural and other reasons improvements in these issues do not always get the degree of attention we believe they should have.
